If you ask anyone who has spent a long time smoking, they will tell you they feel it is very difficult if not impossible to quit smoking without help. These tips on stopping smoking can get you on the path to kicking the smoking habit fast. Try one or all of them and be sure to start now.

You may already know what causes you to want smoke a cigarette. If you know what triggers your habit, you can expect to kick the habit much faster and permanently.

1. Make a promise to yourself that you are going to quit. Also, let everyone know you are quitting. Set yourself up for success by being accountable.

2. Remove all tobacco products, ashtrays, and cigarette lighters from your living spaces at home and at work. Be sure to rearrange furniture in your home if it represents a temptation. 3. You should know that certain people, places and situations can tempt you to smoke; even when you don’t really want to. Old habits die hard, so avoid unnecessary tempting situations.

4. It may sound unbelievable, but even when we are on track to quit smoking we can be derailed by our own thoughts. Don’t convince yourself you need a cigarette because of a stressful situation like a bad day at work. Do everything to recognize when you are about to go off the path to kicking the habit.

5. Above all, kicking the smoking habit is best fought at the mental level. Support your own efforts by becoming better informed about how to kick the habit. Try surfing the internet for free information or consider purchasing a self help program that will help you quit with a defined plan of action.

Often times when we are presented with so many options, we can suffer from analysis paralysis. Don’t let that happen to you.
