Here are 13 hidden secrets about stopping smoking with hypnosis that most people just do not know. Once you understand them, you too can kick your nicotine habit using only the power of your mind.

1. What is an addiction and how does it affect me?
An addiction is a subconscious habit which leads to a physical and emotional dependence. It doesn’t have to be real or rational to anyone else (or often the addicted person) it just has to make sense to them underneath their surface in their subconscious mind. They then have anchors which trigger pangs which make them repeats certain addictive behaviours which reinforce their problem. Like being stuck in traffic and reaching for a cigarette.

2. Is hypnosis a good first resort to giving up an addiction?
Hypnosis isn’t a guaranteed ‘cure all’ but it can be very effective for dealing with addictions. It is non-invasive and doesn’t involve any medication. Personally, I would go to a certified hypnotherapist before doing anything else.

3. Should I try everything else first like seeing a shrink, patches or gum?
As psychologist will ask you to go over all the experiences again. This just makes things more vivid and real to you. You want them to go away and then stop thinking about them. Everything else can help for some people and often a combination of them can help your mind become attuned to stopping.

4. How does hypnosis work?
Hypnosis deals with your subconscious mind. A habit is based in your subconscious mind and therefore it’s like an itch you can’t scratch, but you can feel.

Imagine your mind to be an iceberg with a small part above the surface (conscious mind) and most below (subconscious and unconscious). Above the surface are all the things that you can easily control like your will power, your decision making and your short term memory (are you thinking about what you had for breakfast? – you are now). Below the surface are the things that sit nestled into your mind’s powerful engine. This includes your imagination, long term memory, emotions, beliefs, values, senses, automatic protective factor, motor functions and habits.

Take a look at these two areas of the iceberg and guess which part contains all your links to addictions like smoking, drinking or an ex-partner. It’s all in your subconscious mind, which means that will power alone isn’t going often to be enough to guarantee kicking the habit.

5. Is it dangerous?
It is not dangerous at all. Your mind is healing itself. A skilled therapist will help you to do this even faster. With NLP (neuro linguistic programming) and hypnosis I have removed addictions in less than an hour.

6. Do I have to believe in it for it to work?
It doesn’t matter whether you believe in hypnosis for it to work. It is like not believing in electricity and switching on the light, or ignoring gravity and jumping. It is real and it works very well indeed. Things will be more effective if you’re open to it as your subconscious mind will feel more comfortable with the process.

7. Can hypnosis replace willpower?
They are completely different things. Hypnosis works with your subconscious mind and will power with your conscious. A habit takes about 30 days of repetition to become part of your system and so if every day you use will power to avoid cigarettes and smoke nothing after 30 days this will be a new habit. It will be tough though and it doesn’t have to be. A hypnotherapy session will do this work for you and with a few new anchors (like drinking water, enjoying your breathing and thinking about your best day every day) you will have a brilliant new life as though the addiction never happened. Of course if you had a physical addiction (like heroin) there may be other recommended additions to the treatment but in principle they are all more effective than just willpower. You need willpower want to stop in the first place and then to book an appointment of go to one of my websites to buy your stop smoking treatment.

8. Can it cure me of any addiction?
I don’t know if any addiction which can’t be cured by hypnosis. I have helped many people deal with smoking, drinking, over eating, nail biting and so on with great success. I have also used the same techniques to conquer fear of flying, dentists and other phobias too.

9. How many sessions do I need?
I recommend 2-3 sessions normally but often things can be sorted out in one go. By making many of these sessions available online, you can experience them as many times as you want in the comfort of your home and then share them with a friend once you are cured.

10. Do I need any follow up treatment?
You don’t usually need a top up. It depends on what you do after you have quit. I have on occasion met people who were tested at a party to see if they still enjoyed cigarettes and started again after 6 smoke free months. The lesson here is don’t put it in your mouth again!

11. Will this work forever?
As for will it work forever, who can say? I have clients who haven’t smoked now for 5+ years after one or two sessions, which I think is pretty good.

12. What do I need to know/ do before I try hypnosis?
Nothing, except that you really have to want to stop. You have to take ownership of the problem before approaching anyone else. Then just have an open mind to the future possibilities of being free of your addiction and lie back and relax. It’s that simple.

13. Are there any side effects?
With my systems, I teach Life Design at the same time so the only side effects are being permanently relaxed and chilled out and also knowing how to create your perfect life for the future. Oh and the addiction has gone too.
