My stepson is trying to stop smoking with the help of a battery operated "Lobewhacker" device. If he feels like a ciggy he clips the small cables onto his ear lobes and it administers a small electric shock, you just increase the power daily until you eventually can do without cigarettes, trouble is, he`s had the machine six months now and it`s been adjusted up so much
that when he uses it his hair stands on end, should he try something else?
Josephro:
He stopped smoking 4 weeks ago and now he can go more holidays with what he`s saved? FFS how many a day was he smoking? Hundreds?
He wrote to the company, they suggested he upgrade to the latest aid ,
they call it the" maxiwhacker"it works in a similiar way but without ear lobe clamps, it`s a chair you strap yourself into, plus it`s guaranteed to work.
If i need a jump start i know where to come.
Effective stop smoking aid?

I’ve never heard of this device and it sounds somewhat alarming!! I quit a 26 year habit 7 weeks ago with the aid of a smoking cessation group and the incredible new drug Champex (Chantix in the USA). Its the first drug designed purely to stop smoking and works by balancing out your dopamine levels to stop you craving the nicotine high, and by blocking the nicotine receptors so you derive absolutely no pleasure from the cigarette. I am astounded at the effect it has had. In previous attempts I have been unable to be around smokers as I get so jealous and upset. Now, my husband can sit and smoke in front of me and I just don’t care. If he has a serious habit and no medical condition that precludes taking this drug, I recommend it highly.

I gave up for 5 yrs (yeah i know I was a fool to ever go back to it!!!)
anyhow, Try this as it worked for me:
I kept one cigarette in my husband car, not being with him all day, whenever I craved for a smoke, I used to think about that cigrette and having it when he got home, or when we met up later in the day, I would then think about how much i would like that cigarette after eating, so I would wait longer, then I would think about the morning and how much more I would want it in the morning, then in the morning I would think about the evening and how much more I would like that cigaette etc.
This went on for some while, it got easier every day, but there were a few tough spots. I remember going to his car at 3am just to get that cigarette, but I never smoked it, I never got closer than opening the packet and with support, I got through them tough days.
Its also a good idea to choose a certain day to quit on and a time, I have set my date for giving up again for november 10th at midday!
That cigarette stayed in my husbands car for 18 months, I can remember the day I opened the packet to see a mouldy lone cigarette and the sense of achievement when I put in on the fire!!!!!
good luck to your stepson!

Wow, that sounds down right scary, probably doing as much damage to you brain cells as smoking does. Two of my friends that gave up recently used Nicocure, but they said nothing works unless you have the inner desire and mind set to really want to quit. You can find further free help on quitting smoking at the link below.

Try the nicotine gum Nicorettes.
2m and 4 m.
I stopped Dec 31, 1986 and started the gum.
This was my second try.
Read directions and if he fails, try the gum again
Good Luck (just do it)

Hì. He could try cutting down the number of cigarettes gradually per day. Each day, just smoke one less. He should do this till he reaches a target of smoking only two a day. Ideally, it’s best that he quits the habit altogether but it’s better that he smokes just one or two a day than the large number he normally smokes per day. – I know of a family friend that gave up smoking all of a sudden. In other words, he did’nt gradually phase out the habit. As a result he had become gravely ill and had to be hospitalised. The probable reason for this was that for many years his body had grown accustomed to smoking and the effect of giving up so suddenly had taken its toll on him. It’s best that your stepson gradually phase out this habit. If he can be disciplined he will achieve his goal.
